PRERNA - Be the inspiration

An inspirational talk series by girls who have emerged as successful women and have completed their Engineering and Medicine from India’s top colleges. It was conducted on 15th April 2018 between 10 am and 12.30 pm at Amma Arangam, Anna Nagar, Chennai.
Empowerment is about being given authority and power to do something.
Empowerment is about becoming stronger and confident.
Empowerment again means to become aware of one’s rights and privileges.
Empowerment also means the ability to control one’s life in a more meaningful and fulfilling way.
We in FIITJEE thought to empower girls by bringing them together for a simulative talk series in the name of Prerna.
With this, FIITJEE conceptualized in bringing in girls who had inspirational journey towards success into IITs and Medical Colleges, to tell about the odds they faced and how they won. Apart from the girls, there were successful women speakers from eminent fields who were present to share their success stories and interesting experiences in life.
The guest speakers of the day were Dr.Deepa Venkitesh, Assistant professor, Department of Electrical Engineering in IIT Madras, Dr. Minal Vora, Lead Cardiac Anaesthetist at Apollo Hospitals, Ms. Joanna Raju, Senior Manager at Wipro Technologies and Ms. Pooja Kumari, III year Chemical Engineering student, IIT Madras. There were two other speakers Ms. Arunothiya Marapan, Microsoft, USA and Ms. Shobana Atluri, student of London School of Commerce, UK who were not present but addressed us through video conferencing.
The students listened, asked doubts and interacted well with the speakers. The speakers shared their experiences, how they dreamt, worked hard and persevered to reach the desired destination in life. They inspired the students by giving them various recipes to face life and also to overcome challenges as a girl. Prerna ended up successfully by the concluding talk of Mr. Ankur Jain, Director, FIITJEE Chennai Region. The students found the programme very useful and were also found inspired and empowered at the end of the session.
